Biografie
Vittorio De Sica war ein italienischer Filmregisseur und Schauspieler und eine führende Persönlichkeit der neorealistischen Bewegung. Er gilt als einer der einflussreichsten Filmemacher der Filmgeschichte. Vier seiner Filme wurden mit einem Oscar ausgezeichnet: „Sciuscià“ und „Fahrraddiebe“ (Ehrenpreis), während „Gestern, heute und morgen“ und „Der Garten der Finzi Contini“ den Oscar für den besten fremdsprachigen Film erhielten.
